The purpose of microelectronic systems is to connect the programmed software to a given device. Just imagine a case where, for example, you need to measure the speed of a runner on a sports field and then send the speed to a computer that processes the data for further use. The purpose of data processing can be to determine a statistic, an average, and to process time from start to finish. In addition, if e.g. the runner has broken a particular record, the system may immediately need to send a report via SMS or email to that particular target.
The microelectronic system can also be used in many other areas. For example, in the case of a waterworks, to measure the water level in the tank and when the water level reaches a critical point, the system must send an automated alarm to the specified person.
Such microelectronic devices are used in stores e.g. for a credit card payment, a barcode scan, or just a balancing system.
A further advantage of microelectronics is that a device, such as a motorized shutter system, can even be controlled via a mobile phone.
The Raspberry Pi can be equipped with a complete operating system, complete with a touch screen display.
